Choose the network to match your riding

Tourism Golden describes Moonraker, CBT, Mountain Shadows, Mount 7, the town’s Rotary routes and the Kicking Horse bike park. These areas offer different styles of riding, from town outings to technical trails and sustained descents. Use current maps and trail descriptions to select specific routes rather than treating an entire network as one difficulty level.

Choose a specific trail from the current map once you have picked the area. An entire network is not one difficulty rating.

Treat the bike park as a separate product

Kicking Horse publishes trail maps, progression guidance, bike tickets, rentals and lessons. Use that progression information for a first visit, particularly if you are new to sustained descents or riding with someone who is. Book a bike product for bike access; sightseeing has a different purpose.

The resort describes a mix of machine-built trails and technical riding. Its published beginner progression starts lower on the mountain before moving to gondola-accessed terrain. Follow the current map, open-trail information and instructor advice for the actual day.

Choose the bike and the collection point together.

Tell the rental provider where you intend to ride and your experience level. Confirm the equipment, fit, protective gear and collection time for that plan. A rental collected in town and a resort rental can create different starts to the morning.

For riding across several networks, organise a vehicle and bike-carrying arrangement before arrival. Check what the vehicle can carry, how rental bikes may be transported and when they must be returned. Those details determine how much of the region is practical in one day.

Bring us your bike requirements early.

Contact Copper Horse with the number and type of bikes, your dates and any storage or e-bike charging needs. Arrange how bikes will be handled at the property before you reserve.

For friends travelling together, compare separate beds as well as room capacity. Two-queen rooms give two beds for up to four guests; king rooms have one bed for up to two.

Give a short riding break two different days.

One possible outline is a Kicking Horse bike-park day followed by a mapped Moonraker or CBT outing. Choose the order around operating dates and current trail conditions. Include rental pickup, transport and return in the plan.

Companions who are not riding can plan a separately booked gondola outing or time in Golden. Agree a reunion before dinner. For a longer stay, add a walk or a quieter day so the trip works for different interests.
