Match equipment to the activity

At Dawn Mountain, classic skiing, skate skiing and snowshoeing are separate choices. Ask for equipment that matches what you plan to do. If you are learning, select the lesson type first so the equipment and instruction work together.

Golden Nordic’s rental page lists classic and skate ski sets with boots and poles, and snowshoes with poles for use with regular winter boots. Ask the centre about sizes and availability for everyone in your party.

The club’s rentals are for use at Dawn Mountain only and must be returned before the shop closes. Rental fees do not include the trail fee. Keep collection, pass purchase and return as distinct parts of the day.

Arrange a lesson before setting the timetable

The club’s lesson page asks visitors to book at least 48 hours ahead. It lists private and group instruction for one to six people and asks guests to arrive at least 15 minutes before the lesson, with extra time for equipment setup. Check its current booking instructions and availability.

Tell the instructor whether you are starting classic or skate skiing, your experience and who is joining. Equipment rentals are separate from the lesson. If people have different interests, split the activities and agree a meeting point instead of forcing everyone into one lesson.

Check the season, pass and trail report

Season check, 14 October 2026: the rental page says the shop will open again for the 2026–27 season. That notice is not confirmation that trails or rentals are open today. Use the club’s conditions report and opening information for your intended visit.

Golden Nordic asks visitors to obtain the applicable day pass or membership and sign in when using its trails. Check the pass requirements for your activity directly with the centre, including any skiing you plan after a lesson.

Use our Dawn Mountain activity overview to compare skiing and snowshoeing. The trail network’s total distance does not determine the length of your outing; choose a loop using the current map and what is open.

Plan the journey to Hector Trail

The club’s published destination is 1695 Hector Trail, Golden. Use its directions for the approach to the centre. Copper Horse’s short walk to the gondola refers to the downhill resort base; plan the Nordic journey separately.

Agree how your party reaches the centre, where any driver waits or returns, and how everyone gets back with equipment returned on time. For a group with different outings, write down a common meeting point and a latest return time.

Shape a first Nordic day

  1. Check conditions, operating hours and your confirmed lesson.
  2. Arrive with time for equipment fitting and pass arrangements.
  3. Learn or warm up, then choose a suitable first loop.
  4. Meet your companions, assess how everyone feels and adapt the remaining outing.
  5. Return rentals before closing and complete your return journey.

You can make Nordic skiing the focus of the holiday or combine a centre day with other winter interests. For a mixed party, our family and non-skier guide helps connect separate daytime plans with shared evenings.

Choose the lodge nights and beds

Arriving the evening before a lesson gives travel its own place in the plan. Copper Horse self check-in begins at 4pm, with check-out at 11am. Save your reservation’s instructions and use our arrival guide.

Choose a king for up to two guests sharing one bed, or a two-queen room when two beds suit the party. Compare your room options. Book the centre’s pass, lesson and equipment with Golden Nordic; book accommodation separately.
