Where we recommend breakfast and lunch

Double Black Café is a Copper Horse recommendation for breakfast, coffee and lunch at the Kicking Horse base. Find it at unit 3, 1549 Kicking Horse Trail, by the gondola. It is independently operated; order and pay with the café.

Its published menu includes breakfast dishes and crêpes, with lunch choices such as paninis, bowls and burgers. Treat those as an introduction to the kitchen, then use the current menu for your visit. Offerings change with the season.

The café’s contact and hours page says it opens seasonally in step with the resort. Check its opening dates and daily hours before making it your first stop, particularly between the summer and winter seasons. Its published phone is (250) 344-2214.

Café breakfast or an easy start at the lodge?

A Copper Horse stay includes the all-day self-serve lobby snack bar, with breakfast favourites, snacks and drinks; the selection varies. It can suit a simple start before equipment collection or an early departure.

Choose Double Black when you want a café meal at the base. Give that meal its own time and budget. The café’s food is not included in the room booking, and the lodge does not set its menu or hours.

For dinner at the lodge, The Jeffrey Room is the separate, independently operated restaurant on the first level. Contact its team for current evening service and table arrangements.

Plan breakfast around the first appointment

Decide which event fixes the morning: a ski lesson, a rental fitting, an activity check-in or a sightseeing booking. Work backwards to leave time for the meal and reaching the meeting point. Confirm the café opening before relying on breakfast ahead of an early appointment.

Our winter rental guide helps with fitting and collection. For summer riding, use the bike-rental guide. Equipment bookings and the café meal have their own timings; a room reservation does not arrange either.

Give lunch a clear reunion point

A base-area lunch can give skiers, riders and non-participating companions a shared part of the day. Agree the meeting time, where you will meet and how each person returns there. Choose the outing length around that plan rather than hoping everyone finishes together.

For children or mixed dietary needs, read the current menu and ask the café directly about ingredients, substitutions and preparation. Menu labels do not replace a conversation about an essential food requirement. For a larger party, ask about the arrangements before using the café as a fixed group meeting place.

Make the resort base part of your stay

Copper Horse has eleven guestrooms at the Kicking Horse base, with the gondola a short walk away. Your lodge room can anchor mountain outings and time together without making every meal or activity the same for the whole party.

Find the right beds for your party, explore a mixed-interest winter holiday or plan a summer visit. Arrange café meals and activity bookings directly with their operators.

Quick dining questions

Is Double Black breakfast included with my room?

No. The included lodge offering is the self-serve lobby snack bar. Double Black is an independent café where meals are purchased separately.

Is Double Black open all year?

Its own website describes seasonal opening in step with the resort. Check its current hours and seasonal notices for your dates.

Can non-skiers join us for lunch?

A base-area meeting can work for a mixed party. Confirm the café’s opening and each person’s transport and activity timing before making the plan.

Operator information checked 14 October 2026. Confirm current access, availability and terms directly with each business before booking.
