What kind of ski trip are you planning?
Start with your group’s skiing experience. A first mountain holiday needs a different first morning from a trip with friends who already know how they like to ski. Choosing those priorities early makes it easier to book the right lessons and equipment.
| Your party | Build the day around |
|---|---|
| New or returning skiers | A resort lesson, equipment fitting and suitable terrain. |
| Confident ski friends | Open terrain that suits everyone, with a meeting point for different paces. |
| Families with mixed abilities | Separate lesson or skiing plans and a shared lunch or reunion. |
| Skiers and non-skiers | Independent day plans, then dinner together. |
Make the first morning easy.
Reserve any lesson and rental equipment before the trip, then save the collection location and lesson meeting instructions. If different members of the family have different starts, decide who goes with each person. Put a meeting time and place in everyone’s phone.
Review the resort’s snow and lift report before leaving the lodge. Use the open-terrain information to choose the day’s route; a trail remembered from a previous visit may have different conditions this time.
A room near the lift changes the rhythm.
Staying in the resort village keeps your accommodation and ski day close together. Help yourself to a morning bite at the lodge, collect your boots and walk toward the gondola. After skiing, there is a shared lounge and outdoor barrel sauna for an easier evening.
Two-queen rooms accommodate up to four guests; king rooms accommodate up to two. For friends who want separate beds, choose by the actual bed arrangement. A group needing several rooms can discuss a rooming plan with us before reserving.
Let everyone have their own mountain holiday.
Non-skiers can plan time at the lodge, a meal in Golden or a separate winter outing. Dawn Mountain Nordic Centre is an option for cross-country skiing or snowshoeing, with its own passes, equipment and transport. Winter sightseeing availability belongs with the resort’s current lift products.
If the party shares one vehicle, settle the transport plan before people choose different activities. A lodge reunion gives everyone something shared without needing identical lift tickets or the same number of hours outside.
Give skiing its own full days.
Our three-day ski itinerary uses four lodge nights: arrival evening, three full activity days, then departure the following morning. For a two-night weekend, one full ski day is the straightforward starting point; an extra partial day depends on your travel and equipment arrangements.
Self check-in begins at 4pm. Save your arrival instructions before travelling and use the lodge’s directions for the final approach. Resort tickets, lessons and rentals are booked separately from your room.
